2nd Grade Parent Update
Week of October 31 - November 4
Announcements for this Week:
I wish all of my students and their families a happy and safe Halloween!
All Saints’ Day Mass
There will be a special Mass on Tuesday, November 1 at 8:00 AM as we join with the parish community in celebrating the Solemnity of All Saints. Please make sure that students arrive at school at 7:45 AM on Tuesday, November 1 in their dress uniforms. You are welcome to join us for this special Mass.
Gateway to Art
We will have our first Gateway to Art session during the afternoon of Thursday, November 3 from 1:30 - 3:00 PM in the Art Room. You may have already heard from our docent, Mrs. Rogers, about opportunities to volunteer to help with the project. Please let us know if you are able to join us in our creative endeavors!
Research Material for Animal Project
We will begin discussing the writing process for our Animal Habitat Projects this week. We will be visiting the School Library to look for books about animals, but since materials are limited, it would be great if students could bring an additional resource from home. Acceptable sources include books (from home or the public library), educational magazines, encyclopedias, and print-outs from reliable Internet websites. Students should have their source material by Friday.
Looking Ahead:
Parent Conferences
Conferences will take place next week, November 7 - 10. There will be a sign-up sheet to reserve an appointment time with me posted in Building A this week. During the week of conferences, school will be dismissed at 12:30 PM every day.
Veterans’ Day Holiday
There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 11 in honor of Veterans’ Day.
Animal Habitat Diorama
Dioramas will be DUE on Monday, November 14. Students will complete the written component of their reports in class as we study the writing process.
Field Trip to the California Science Center
Our first field trip will take place on Tuesday, November 15. We will be enhancing our study of the complex interactions between animals and their environments with a trip to the wonderful Ecosystems exhibit at the California Science Center.
More details will be forthcoming! Permission slips will be distributed soon!
