Week of May 2 - 6

Welcome back to school! I hope everyone enjoyed a happy Easter and restful Spring Break. Can you believe it? We are in the home stretch of our school year - only 6 weeks left!

Announcements for this Week:

Living Wax Museum
Students will be receiving information this week about a long-term project for Social Studies. We will be creating a Living Wax Museum, featuring students performing the roles of important figures in history. The class will perform their Living Wax Museum reports during an evening presentation for parents and families at a date to be determined. Each student will be randomly assigned a historical individual. Their tasks will be to:

  • research the individual using at least two resources
  • resources may include Social Studies textbook, biographies, reliable Internet sources, etc.
  • report on at least five facts about the individual
  • report may include date and place of birth, education/upbringing, important contributions or discoveries, legacy, etc.
  • present the information (in character) at the Living Wax Museum exhibition
  • include a costume element and a prop that represents an important contribution of the individual

Hawaii Raffle Tickets
All Hawaii Raffle ticket stubs and money are DUE on Tuesday, May 3 in order to receive fundraising credit, but families can continue to sell tickets until the date of the Raffle, Tuesday, May 17. Please return any unsold books of tickets to the school office as soon as possible.
